William Soprano with dog Olimar

Who is Olimar?

He's just over a year old, showing up at just the right time. I found him in October 2025 and in such a short time he's grown and blossomed into such a fun pup! He's got more personality every day, and though he's a bit of a ditz he is wicked smart and quick to pick things up.

In case you're wondering, yes, I named him after the captain from Pikmin (the video game).

Personality

He's still becoming the man (pup) that he'll become, so this is mostly to be continued.. But here are some fun things about him: Although he's got the athleticism of his breed, he might not always have the coordination. He leaps when he runs like an antelope through the prairie, he somehow trips over his paws, and when he gets excited he can't stop his tongue from slurping the air.

He's smart in the way Cattle Dogs are; always watching, figuring things out, and one step ahead of you. He knows better - but he loves to push boundaries. We're all on his timeline.

His default state is fully engaged. He wants to be wherever we are, doing whatever we're doing. He'd rather work than play fetch, though he's recently learned that he likes that too.

Quirks

Every dog has their things. Olimar has more things than most.

🍽

Picky about his dish

He won't eat out of just any bowl. It has to be the right one, in the right spot, and he has to inspect it first. Every. Single. Time.

Loves snow

The first time he saw snow, he completely lost his mind. Diving into it, biting it, rolling in it. Now every snowfall is the best day of his life all over again.

👋

Learning to use his hands

He uses his paws like hands more than any dog I've seen. He'll bat at things, hold toys, and try to open doors. It's only a matter of time before he figures out the fridge.

🏃

Awkward athlete

He can run full speed, change direction on a dime, and leap over anything — then immediately wipe out on a flat surface. Peak performance meets peak chaos.

Want to know the human?

Olimar's probably the star of this show, so if you want he can probably join our next call.
